Warningfield is ShyBoy’s new collaborative project with Hypnogaja bandmate/co-founder Mark Nubar and composers Sean Hosein and Jim Guttridge. The group’s debut single “1981” is a shimmering slice of dreamy retro synth-pop. The song threads us back in time and surveys the honeymoon period of pop music’s newfound relationship with computer technology. The lyric looks through the magical lens of our nostalgia, questioning if a simpler time ever even existed - and whether it would be worth returning to, even if we could: “If we could get back to that time/Would we change ourselves in the rewind?/Would we be better there/If time could get us there?”
